Co Carlow - 5
Kilkenny RFC - 54
Kilkenny U13s travelled to Co Carlow Rugby Club last Saturday for both teams first outing in the South East League & first game at 15 a-side & full pitch.
Prior to the game a minute's silence was observed for the recent bereavement of Margaret Crotty, the mother of Co Carlow Rugby Club President, Tom Crotty.

Kilkenny took the game to a somewhat understrength Carlow team right from the kick-off. Early dominance by the Kilkenny pack created space out wide for Kilkenny full back, Patrick McDonald, to outflank the Carlow defense & score the first of his impressive 3 tries on the day.
Strong carries from the forwards & good handling in the Kilkenny backline resulted in 2 further tries in the first half, both scored by captain Mati Quaglia.
The 2nd half was a closer affair with Kilkenny edging it 3 tries to 1.The scores coming from Senan Dempsey, AJ Mackey & Ronan Treacy. Treacy's was probably the score of the day having regathered his own chip kick, after breaking through the defense.
Conversions came from Scott O'Shea, Dylan Pagan & Ronan Treacy.

Although they are likely to face sterner tests in the weeks to come, it was an impressive first outing by the whole squad.
Next fixture - Wexford Wanderers away Sat Oct 2nd.
